Best theme park on the Gold Coast?

  • We're going on a family holiday to the Gold Coast soon! What are your favourite theme parks and least favourite? What are the best rides? What else is a must-go place? Thanks all :)

  • Answer:

I live on the Gold Coast, and I go to at least one, usually two of the theme parks every year. As a person who loves going on as many rides as possible, and never goes to any of the shows, I love Dreamworld the most. It has quite a few rollercoasters, and action rides. It also has a childrens ride area. Infact, Dreamworld, Movieworld and Seaworld all have good childrens ride areas where there are things to do for young children. Dreamworld also has tigers, and a bit of an animal sanctuary which has a wombat, and koalas and other animals. MovieWorld is good too. There are a few rollercoasters, and action rides too as well as a lot of other things. Like there is a police car stunt show that they have twice every day, and there is a theatre that shows a half hour Shrek 4D movie several times during the day. There's also a parade at lunchtime where there are a lot of characters like Marilyn Monroe, and the Scooby Doo characters go down the street and put on a show. SeaWorld has lots of rides too, and they also have all the sea creatures. There are dolphin shows and polar bears and seals and things. I'm not a huge fan of water parks. There's Wet'n'Wild that has a lot of different slides, and there's also White Water World which is right next to DreamWorld. I haven't been to White Water World, but my friends say it's pretty much the same as WetnWild, but they didn't like it as much. White Water World and Dreamworld are owned by the same company, and Movieworld, Seaworld and Wetnwild are owned by another company. So if you're planning on going to more than one, you can get some deals if you're going to ones that are owned by the same company. And I didn't know till I went to Movieworld last month that they no longer allow people to bring their own food in with them.

It depends on what sort of theme park you want to go to - one with water or without - or better yet - both! :) I've only been to one theme park - Wet N Wild - twice. I thought it was awesome. Best ride: The Tornado! It was just awesome fun! It's a ride for 4. Although, be sure not to sink into the hole in the tube too far or your rear will hit the ground and it sorta hurts. Just a little though. Plus, it takes your photo, not sure whether you can buy your photo though. Tornado: http://www.roller-coaster.com.au/images/articles/article-version-ncr/Tornado_landscape_300dpi_RGB1.jpg Another good one was the Black Hole. It's a water slide and there are holes throughoout the ride that just bring in little specks of light, it looks so cool. It's a ride for 2. Mammoth Falls is also quite fun. You can fit 8 people on one tube. There's also racing slides - I forgot what it's called though. 8 people can race at once though. There's also a huge wave-pool, a kid's water playground - really cool, I admit - there's a massive bucket at the top that fills up with water and then tips and you get pounded with water - so fun! :) Plus, lots of little food shops, and plenty of places to sit and you can hire out lockers for the day. There's heaps more as well. I've heard that Dreamworld is also really good - and it's connected to White Water World. I've never been though. All theme parks are generally packed though, especially in the Summer. You will be standing in lines forever. You might want to go on a school day - although, not at the end of term when all the schools go.

I've only ever been to movie world, but it's absolutely brilliant, i loved it. the rides there are SO much fun, but there's loads to see and do if you're not a thrill seeker too. there's this thing they have called 'Shrek 4D' you get 3d glasses, and the movie projects around the whole room, the chairs jolt, and spray water at you, stuff like that, so you get the impression you're there, that was sweet. There's all the stunt shows to watch, but i can't tell you about those because I was too busy going on the Wild west falls a billion times to see those. Characters walk round dressed up, and sometimes they even start dancing. when i was there they played the austin powers theme and they had loads of people dressed up doing the dance to it, it was awesome. The rides are awesome. There's a pretty tame (but still heaps of fun) roller coaster in the WB kid's section called road runner roller coaster, i went on that seven times. if you have kids between say 6 and 11 they'll like it. there's the wild west falls. there are some scary parts, but only two of them, the rest is just going along a western themed river. you go through all these western sets. oh, then you go into a dark mountain and drop backwards (scared the hell out of me) and there's the drop at the end which feels very steep while you're on it. But after you go on once, you want to go again. there's the scooby doo spooky coaster. this one's indoor, and dark. The first bit's pretty creepy, (swinging axes above your head, animatronic zombies and mummies, etc.) but then you get taken up this lift (the lift will jolt you from side-to-side, that IS normal, but i didn't know so i was so freaked out,) then you drop backwards and go round all these sharp corners. it's loads of fun, but if your kids are young or easily scared (assuming you have kids) you might want to go on first and see. but they should be fine. i know this six year old and it's his favourite ride. Superman escape hmm, i didn't go on this one, but it goes so bloody fast! there are videos on youtube that people have filmed while on there, you should look at them. batwing spaceshot Do NOT go on this if you're scared of heights. i hate them and just watching my friends go on made me feel nervous. then again, i did see tonnes of young kids go on it too, so, you know. it shoots you up a 65m pole then lets you freefall back down. lethal weapon I actually did go on this, surprisingly. Would have been the coolest ride ever if it didn't throw your head round like it was a basketball. you're fully strapped into this rollercoaster where the track is above your head and your feet are dangling in mid air. it spins you upside down 5 times, but it goes so fast that while you're on there you haven't even got time to get scared. but if you want to go on it, put your head back! i forgot to and had a bruise on the side of my head for the rest of the holiday. and also, make sure you go on the big rides quite early in the day, I queued up for over half an hour to get on the lethal weapon. Then there's the WB kid's fun zone, which isn't really worth going in unless you have little kids under about 7. but if you have, they'll probably like it there. hope i helped and have a good holiday.

Helloâ„¢

Um, it really depends on what your into. If you want a bit of the extreme, kids and water worlds, get a double pass to Dreamworld and White Water World. If you are from th city type area, I suggest going to the Australian Outback Spectacular. Its, well I say, bloody amazing! Have fun, I love the Gold Coast!

dd.

I would visit Dreamworld, Movieworld and Seaworld. I would stay in Surfers Paradise, enjoy the long beach and also visit a few hinterland national parks if you get time.
