What side reins are the best?

ive recently read an article about how bad side reins are for a horse, and how they will make your horse permanently behind the bit and force him into a false frame. what do you think about them? i personally do use side reins on occasion. right now...

I was hoping to get some more opinions on side reins and how they work. In my opinion they put constant pressure on the horses mouth and the only way to get away from this pressure it to scrunch up the neck and get behind the bit causing the hind end...
