How to hide my webcam?

I hav a built in webcam in my laptop, but sometimes dont want people knowing its there, so how can i hide the wee webcam symbol beside my name on msn?? thanks!! xo

I disabled my web cam on device manager, then i tried to hide it on msn by clicking on tools and un-checked the box where it says "allow others to see that i have a webcam." ...show more

I keep reading all these questions about ppl hiding webcams..in the room i can imagine..even so isnt it quite hard without being obvious? But in the bathroom and car? How does ur victim not notice a laptop with a webcam connected to it pointing at them...
