Circus Costume Ideas?

So... am a little bit up in the air with what I want to go as, so long as it's not a clown (scared of them, which makes me wonder why my best mate would have a circus themed party when CLEARLY people will go as clowns). Lion/lion tamer...had a cool idea...

Ah, but theres always a catch. I really cbfed going out and renting a costume, or spending a lot of money, just wearing normal clothes plus something or other. Something easy, that won't cost me too much more then, say, $50, and I'll be happy. 16, female...
