Is there such thing as a monthly pass for the London underground?

How much would it cost for a trip to London, England?

• I'm planning on visiting London, England either this winter or next summer. I've got a few friends living there right now that I'm wanting to visit. The only thing is, I need to figure out about how much money I'll need for the tickets (I figure around $1200 for a round trip, yeah?), food while I'm there, a few nights in a hostel, a few nights out, and a bus/train pass? Also, anyone have suggestions on some clubs I should hit up, art galleries, restaurants, neighborhoods, etc?

  be aware that the summer olympics will be held in London next summer July 27th - August 12th - it will be Very Crowded and prices are sure to go way up- especially airfares and places to stay-if you go during that time book Way in advance! Winter would be cheaper and less crowds but the weather is not that great personally I prefer the fall or early spring-I have gone the last 2 octobers and I only had a couple of rainy days and everything will still open and it's Off Peak season Plus the Autumn or Spring colors are just lovely at the many parks in London
