How expensive is a trip to London?

I'm saving up to go to London, but I have no idea how to plan that kind of a trip. Any advice?

• I've never really traveled much except the west coast in the US. I am saving up to go to London, but I have no idea on how to plan a trip to someplace so far away. I'm not sure how to find good hotels (not too expensive) or how to plan tours and such. Any tips? It would be so helpful! Thank you!

  go to tripadvisor.com, they have lots of advice and reviews of hotels. When I went in 2008, I stayed at a simple, decently priced hotel in a good part of london. For myself, I got some books from the library about travel to London and decided what I wanted to visit (and then changed my mind again when I got there...). That works out better for me than a planned tour that I have to pay for. The main museums in London are free. So you may want to visit them. I tended to eat in places like pubs and small places. They tended to be cheaper. London day to day costs can be rather expensive. Prices for food are roughly the same, only in pounds rather than dollars. so a meal that might cost 7 dollars here would cost 7 pounds there, only a pound is worth $1.50, so it costs you about $10.50.
