Help! I need to know which tubes/trains/buses I need to take to get to a place in London?
-
This is my first time using London transport. I want to get from Hayes in Middlesex (UB post code) to TW7 5QD (BSKYB area, I think the nearest station is Osterley). Which trains/tubes/buses do I need to take? Underground? I'm confused!

Answer:
You should go to the Transport for London website. It is www.tfl.gov.uk.

There is a very old music hall joke along the lines of "if you want to go there I wouldn't start from here" - getting from Hayes to the BSkyB offices is a bit like that - it is not easy to get from Hayes to Sky - BUT :- The website for all transport in London is http://www.tfl.gov.uk/ - use the journey planner there - you simply enter start and end positions and the planner will tell you the way to go - for the journey you want to do it will almost certainly suggest buses. It is a long walk from Osterley underground station to BskyB - much closer is 'Syon Lane' on the Overground trains. You should note that the railway station in Hayes is called "Hayes and Harlington" and that the area close to BSkyB is known as "Gillettes Corner" because of the factory with a tall clock tower close by and that is how most of the locals and London Transport will know where you want to get to to reach Sky I just did a search on TFL and got this result :- Hayes & Harlington Station Take the Route Bus H98 from Stop: E towards Hounslow Bus Station Buses every: 8 mins Max journey time: 41 mins Hounslow Bus Station Take the Route Bus 117 from Stop: F towards West Middlesex Hospital Average journey time: 10 mins West Middlesex Hospital (TW7) Take the Route Bus H28 from Stop: HC towards Gillette Corner Tesco Average journey time: 7 mins alight at Gillette Corner Tesco Total journey time approx 58 mins There were other options using trains and underground - do your own search to choose the option you like
