When is The Notting Hill Carnival?

• I feel like the meaning behind Notting Hill carnival has been lost, it is not about 'celebrating black people' nor 'forgetting English culture' it is about bring everyone together to celebrate our diverse society in a positive manner. The mixture of foods, clothing, music and people is so superb, in England we are known for our freedom of speech and equality which shows in this colorful carnival. People listen to the news and always are spoon fed the negative activities that happened at carnival, considering the event attracts approximately 1-2 million people over 2 days, the few disruptions are trivial in comparison to the million(s) who are enjoying themselves. Yes of course Caribbean culture dominates the carnival but when carnival was set up it was about bringing native English member and non native English members together and at the time the highest amount of migrants were from Caribbean Islands, lets not hat but appreciate what everyone has contributed to Britain regardless of race, sexuality, gender or religion. BUT what's your take?

  Can't stand it. Full of moody hood rats, crushing amount of people, rip-off stands selling jerk chicken for £9, rubbish thrown around everywhere. Nowhere to pee if you're normal, if not then every private doorway and cat's mouth a viable option. Always at least two murders, multiple stabbings and more muggings than Soweto on a Saturday night. Waste of time. Any meaning it once had has long since been sucked out of it. Notting Hill is now one of London's most expensive areas and the original West Indian community have been forced out. On any other day except the Carnival, the only black man you'll see in Notting Hill is a traffic warden. Yeah, well real. Blurrggghh.
