What are some of the places to go to in London at night?

Places to go on a night out in London if you like indie music?

  • i like indie music, old rock, and modern heavy rock.... i like anything from the beatles - the wombats - the sunshine underground- the rolling stones - brand new - alexis on fire - kanye west (basically anything other than dance and r'n'b) etc etc anyway just giving you an idea. im going to London in april and have never been on a night out there before where should i go to enjoy some music and have a good dance? thanks for your help! oh btw i already know about koko :)

    Buy Time Out when you arrive (or the week before if you can get it - its publuhsed every Wednesday) - it will list places according to genre of music. It obviously varies from week to week but there are good places like Borderline on Charing Cross Road, various places in Camden Town etc - see http://www.visitlondon.com/events/clubs/indie-retro-clubs for a guide but check in Time Out to make sure its actually running that week One place I would recommend which is a bit out of central London (10 mins by tube) is teh Swan in Stockwell - see http://www.theswanstockwell.co.uk/ this has tribute bands and indie and rock

You want metro on Oxford St or the Roxy... can't remember where that is. Or Frog, which is on a Friday night (I think) at the Mean Fiddler. Or White Heat which is at Madame JoJo's in Soho on tuesdays.... By the way Kanye isn't indie or rock. He's hip hop...

Head to Shoreditch in East London. You'll find tons of places next to each other with that kind of scene. Also, you get the real London night scene here instead of a lot of touristy places you find in central London....!
