Which is the best place to live in London?

Best Place to live not far from Reading, but close to London?

  • Dear yahoo members I would be grateful if you could possibly assist me with some information: My husband and I are young hard working professionals with no children, he is starting a new job in Reading and we have to relocate quite soon. We are looking for a nice area to live, not far from Reading, but with good transport links to London because I will be transferred there in the future. My husband also travels to London on a weekly basis (Mondays) because he is doing a course. The place does not need to be very close to Reading, our priority is to find a nice place to live: low crime rates, lively, with plenty of amenities, restaurants, coffee shops, cultural activity, cinemas and gyms (we like sports). We are not looking to live in a village; but, we would like to live in a city close to the countryside as well. The cost of the place is not an issue because we are willing to spend extra in order to have a more pleasant stay. We already made a mistake of rushing to live in one place in order to save money; the place is very boring and sadly I was assaulted by youngsters twice. After researching and we found: Wokingham, Guildford, Woking, Surrey Heath, Surbiton, Sutton and Epsom. It seems that the place closest to our taste would be Guildford. But were wondering if there are better alternatives. Any help would be most appreciated

There's some nice areas in Slough?

Wokingham by far. It has excellent road and rail links to London, it is semi-rural with a decent town centre. At a push you could expand your searches to Basingstoke, again with excellent links to the City, however the rental and purchase prices are at a premium. Best of luck.

The Impossible Cube

hi as to living in slough its like beirut i live in bracknell just outside reading reading is a pretty grim place , some of the outskirt parts of reading are nice like pangbourne , but stay clear of places like tilehurst, southcote etc wokingham is a really nice place , 3 train stops from reading on the direct waterloo line although u can get to paddington direct from reading only taking about 25-30 mins the area around asda in early is nice , same line as wokingham to reading 1 stop from reading, both wokingham and early have frequent buses too some parts of woodley are nice but some are a bit rough , bus to reading or walk to early train station crowthorne, sandhurst, little sandhurst, camberley are nice areas , dont think there are buses direct to reading , will have to get bus to bracknell then to reading , also the train you would have to goto ascot and then change to the wokingham / reading train ascot is also another option sunningdale and sunninghill virginia waters twyford staines newbury
