What is the procedure for taking a connect flight from Heathrow, London?
-
I'm travelling to UK for the first time. I will be taking the Jet airways flight from Mumbai, India to Glasgow, UK via a connect flight from Heathrow. This connect flight is operated by the Domestic Carrier, British Midlands. The time between the arrival at Heathrow (Terminal 3) and the Departure to Glasgow (with British Midlands - Terminal 1) is approximately 2 hours. I had certain questions in mind to clear up as i havn't taken any connect flights from Heathrow before. 1. Where should i go after arriving at Heathrow Airport and getting out of the plane? Should i go directly towards Terminal 1 to catch my connecting flight to Glasgow ( operated by British Midlands) or will i have to go for baggage claim and again check-in my baggage? 2. How much time does it takes to goto Terminal 1 from Terminal 3? 3. Will the time of approximtely 2 hours would be enough to make it to the connecting flight at Terminal 1? 4. Any other procedure/process which i might have to go through in between the Arrival at Heathrow and finally boarding the connect flight at Terminal 1?

Answer:
Terminal #1 and terminal #3 are right next to each other. You are probably going to be killing time in a bar. To get to terminals #4 and #5 you need to board a bus. --------- You'll have to pick up your bag and go through customs. Don't worry, it is impossible to make a mistake. You will be following corridors with no options. --------- I would think after you clear customs you will have to carry your bag to the check in terminal for BM at terminal #3 since you are on different airlines. If you bought your ticket together as one flight, and you already have a boarding pass for the domestic portion, they will probably let you recheck it without carrying it yourself from terminal to terminal. Either way you have plenty of time and it won't be a problem.
