Which London Airport is best as regards getting to and from Wembley Stadium?
-
Orperating by public transport to and from Airport. Taxi seems to be quickest to some of them i.e. Taxi to Heatrow is quite quick, however I presume with approx 80,000 people getting a taxi after the game could be impossible. Would before to take tube but these seems to take quite long to get to the Airports from Wembley.

Answer:
Heathrow's your nearest connection. I'm giving you a choice of two possible routes from Wembley Stadium. Cheapest: catch the Metropolitan line tube from Wembley Park to Harrow-on-the-Hill station. From there, the 140 bus runs right to Heathrow airport (the bus stops are right outside the terminal buildings). Price: tube = £1 (Oyster fare) or £3 (cash fare) plus 90p bus journey. Journey time around 1 hr 15 mins (5 min tube journey plus a bit more than an hour on the bus). Fastest: catch the Bakerloo line from Wembley Central to Paddington, then the Heathrow Express train from there. Cost: £2.50 (Oyster fare; £2 after 7pm or at weekends) or £4 cash fare plus £14.50 for the Heathrow Express (online fare). Journey time: around 50 mins (22 mins tube journey, 15 mins on the Heathrow Express.)

Heathrow might be a good option but Luton may be just as fast as you can take the "first capital connect thameslink" train from the airport to West Hampstead (30 min) and change for the jubilee line tube which is just a few stops from Wembley park. Heathrow is very crowded and busy; but closer. Luton is more calm and on-time so it may end up taking the same time. Gatwick would be the third option but still not the best; its 30 min to South London and then you have to get all the way to North West London where Wembley is. Stanstead is two hours minimum and City would be at least three hours.

Heathrow is the closest. Probably the best route from Heathrow to Wembley by public transport is to take a 140 bus from Heathrow Bus Station to Harrow on the Hill station; then the Underground to Wembley Park station. Total journey time 1 hour. Or take the 'Heathrow Connect' train from Heathrow to Ealing Broadway. Then an 83 bus to Wembley.

What I would probably do is catch the tube to Harrow on the Hill tube. The bus station is next to the tube station. Catch a bus to Harrow and Wealdstone train station (about 3 bus stops). Then catch Southern Trains to Gatwick Airport.

London City. Get the DLR from the station in the airport and change onto the Jubilee line at Canning Town to Wembley Park.

I reckon it would be Heathrow if you are flying in from outside the uk otherwize it would most likely be Gatwick or London City.
