Where to go in London?

Do you know where I should go on my trip to London?

  • I am going with a group of friends (aged 15) to London for a long weekend. What can we do around London that does not cost too much? Where are the best places to go? Where are all the good shops? Also, if anyone knows a website with a good tourist map of London on it would be appreciated.

    Seeing as you're all fifteen and can't go into pubs etc. I suggest you wander round some of the best known attractions. Places like the Tower of London cost quite a bit to get into but there's plenty of other things to see for little or no cost. From Charing Cross station you can make your way down to Buckingham Palace and Horse Guards Parade. There's also the Royal Mews, Art Galleries and Museums of course but if you're not into that kind of thing why not take yourselves to some of the markets such as Burrough Market, Petticoat Lane or Camden Market. You can make enquiries at any railway station for directions and which bus/train/tube to catch. They should also have excellent maps available. I am envious. London is an amazing city. Enjoy yourselves.

Besides the obvious attractions, i reccommend these: My first advise is to go to Hampstead Village for a pint in one of London's best pubs; The Holly Bush. A cosy pub in a quiet area. Also nearby is Kenwood house on Hampstead Heath, with great art inside and a beautiful garden, and 5 minutes away is a great view of London. Perfect for a picknick or a walk! Then Camden! Take bus 31, 15 mins to London's alternative part. Lots of markets, little boutiques and nice bars. Definately a must! Whitechapel/Bricklane: The area of delicious Indian food is also very nearby Jack the Ripper's crime scenes! I advise to pick a nice restaurant to have a curry and then move on to The Ten Bells pub, linked to The Ripper! Aldgate Tube station. Abbey Road: Needs no introduction. Walk the crossing and see the outside of the studio's of one of the best bands in the world! The Beatles! Markets: London's Market are great, there are many to explore! My fav's are Camden, Notting Hill and Spital Fields! Check out the link below! Concerts/Comedy/Theatre: London's entertainment has a big variety. Broadway musicals, concerts of the world's biggest bands and the funniest comedians from all over the world! Check the links below for the latest. Also try covent garden for shopping. It has lovely boutiques. And, a wonderful free thing to do in London is to attend a movie premiere at Leisester Sqaure. I met many celebrities that way.
