Where do I get an Oyster Card from?

Where can I get an Oyster card at Victoria Station?

  • I'll be travelling from LGW on the London Gatwick Express. Once I'm at Victoria, which way do I go to find a place that sells the Oyster card? Can someone be specific as to location? Being a visitor, I realize I could get a regular Travelcard, but I want to try out this Oyster business.

  • Answer:

I recently traveled to London and purchased an Oyster card for my visit. Buy it from the ticket agent in the booth right by the ticket machines (at the tube level, not at the train station level!). Happy travels! (PS--we flew into Gatwick and took the regular train into London instead of the Gatwick Express. It was a lot less expensive and not that much longer!)

I'm not sure the Oyster Card is the best thing for an occasional visitor - the mores times you use it the cheaper the fares, so it's best for people living and travelling in London every day really. Check the London Transport website to find out more.
