Moving to london, need as much information as possible, living situations & colleges..etc?
-
In 5 years I want to move to London and go to college there. i know its not something you just hop on a plane and do so i came here, so ask questions.. i dont know where else to go i tried google but it didnt give me enough information, so anyone who has possibly moved from the US to London or vice versa im come from a snooty suburb in chicago. and i need helpppp i need to know what the education system is like, how it varies from the US educational system, like what is required academically. any like insane laws like forbid you to come out after sunrise? you know, like things like that how the living arrangements would be, the cost etc, etc.. i know its very expensive so i was wondering if there was any way i could find something not shabby, but decent for a reasonable price for my living situation? are there any areas i should avoid? i know, its 5 years away, but im just trying to get an idea in my head things i would have to get, permits and what not

Answer:
Ok...so you want to come here to go to university? Then you will certainly have to apply through UCAS (go to ucas.com). As we have few Americans coming here to do a complete degree (they usually just come for one semester or one year) I don't think many places give offers in SAT scores. I suggest choosing an area in which you'd like to study, contact course leaders via the university's website (they're very good over here because they advertise themselves via the internet) and see what they say. Yes, it's expensive here, but studying isn't necessarily. We pay around £3,100 a year in tuition fees whereas it's about $10,000 in the US if I'm correct. All universities should guarantee you accommodation for the first year since you are an International student and living in London is on average £120 a week in rent plus food and bills. I'm not sure what kind of visa you'll need. Check with your local British consulate. Good luck!
