Where is High Street in London?

Where is it as far as the fashion shops go? I heard Princess Diana would walk right out of Kensington Palace to High Street and eat and shop, but I can't exactly figure it out from Googlemaps. Many different "high street" locations come up in London and I don't see something directly out of Kensington Palace.
