As a Nigerian national, I am planning to vist London en-route Madrid. Do I need a transit visa in Spain?

  In general citizen of Nigeria need an Airport Transit Visa (ATV) for Spain even if they stay within the international transit area. You are however exempt from the ATV requirement if you hold a valid visa for the United Kingdom (EEA country). This is based on article 3. para 5. (c) of the EU-Visa Code. You can transit without visa as long as you: • continue your journey to a third country on a connecting flight • hold a ticket with confirmed seats for your next destination • hold all documents required for your next destination • have your luggage checked through to your final destination • do not leave the airport transit area You can also transit without visa on the return trip back home.
