How does one get from Gatwick to Heathrow ? How long does it take and cost ? Freee transfer available ?

You have several options, Train, Coach, Taxi, Hire car or private car. By train you have to go into London and back out to Heathrow and will take about 3 hours (www.thetrainline.com) for times and booking, Coach will take you direct and is probably the cheapest option. Taxis are very expensive or you can hire a car at Gatwick for a one way journey and leave it at Heathrow. Navigating the dreaded M25 during rush hour though is a thing to be avoided. Delays can make the road journey horrendous whether by coach or car. I have just come back from Gatwick this morning, picking up my sister in law from Canada, you now have to use the short term car park to collect someone as the pick up road is now closed to private cars. This is due to recent security developments.

About £15, same length of time, check with National Express website for timetables. By Rail. Multi Choices... Gatwick Express to Victoria - Underground to Paddington - Heathrow Express. Time, approx 1hr 40mins. Cost £50 single approx very expensive. Southern to Victoria - Undergound - Heathrow Express. Time 1hr 45 - 2hrs depending on train caught (local or fast service to Victoria). Cost £40 single approx. Southern to Victoria - Underground only to Heathrow (District to Hammersmith, Hammersmith to Heathrow), time 2hrs - 2hrs 30mins. Cost £14 - £25 for a Travelcard from Gatwick Airport depending if Peak or Offpeak. Of course if you have money to burn, private jet or helicopter would be faster, would not like to think of the cost.... But sorry no transfers unless your travel company supplies. Hope this helps.
