Are the Oxford Circus, Bond Street or Green Park Underground stations safe 9 PM Sunday?
-
I'm a solo female traveler and I've used the Tube around the Knightsbridge area about 9 PM on a Sunday, with no problems. Next trip to London, I plan to leave Claridge's on a Sunday after dinner and need to catch the Piccadilly line eventually. My choices appear to be Bond Street or Oxford Circus stations, with a change to the blue line at Green Park. Would you suggest to go to Bond Street or Oxford stations, or doesn't it matter? Is the Green Park station safe? Are all three of these below street level?

Answer:
Yes they are perfectly safe. I always seem to have to walk miles when changing at Oxford Street so avoid it when possible! Best solution is ask the desk at Claridges which is the shorter walk

You'll be fine. Women travel alone on the tubes at all times of day and very few are attacked.

As safe as they will ever be. But before you set off I suggest you go on the TfL site and check which stations are open as several lines are closed at the weekend for engineering work

Of course all 3 are underground. It's the tube !!! Unless you're coming out of Claridges in heels then why not just take a stroll to Green Park. It'll only take you 10mins or so. Other than that Bond Street is close. I almost forgot. Yes they're all safe. Bon apetit. Well I think you've sort of hung yourself with your added comment. As you say, in the "hinterlands" yes a lot of tube stations are above ground. Why ? Because there's space. So you obviously know something about the tube. Where exactly would you suggest they run rails above ground in the centre of town ?

Lots of solo female travellers on the tube and I confirm what others have said. Yes it is a very safe system with underground staff too to assist you if you need advice or help.

The stations you mention are always busy at all times of the day so for that very reason they are well staffed so you should not feel threatened at all. Go whichever way takes your fancy!
