Will be moving soon to London so I need to know, which are the best areas to move too (to share not over priced) and which are the worst, which I should stay away from!! I don't mind if it's a little out from central London ( meaning 1 hour train ride) Please serious advice guys as I need to start looking now. thank you for your time and help!

Answer:
Some of the nicest parts are in North London , just north of Regents Park ( St Johns Wood, Primrose Hill, Belsize Park areas ) and further north around Hampstead Heath. But it's not as simple as that because London is a mix of very nice expensive areas that run into less nice areas all within a mile or so. North East London around Woodford, Epping, Loughton have very nice areas too.

west london is nicest - places like chelsea, notting hill, knighstbridge, kennsington, bayswater are nice. worst - hackney, peckham, tower hamlets (ppewwwwie) oh wait you don't want it to be expensive,. shitttt ummmhhmm i'm from northwest london suburbs it's a 30-40 minute train ride to central london on the underground areas likeeee pinner, golders green etc. try suburban areas on the metropolitan and northern line on the underground - they tend to be nice but warning on the met line you would only like to live in the areas beyond north harrow, but not northwood hills or watford. northern line areas is your best bet for reasonably priced nice housing. tbh though london is super expensive, poooooooooo :(

Best: St Johns Wood (expensive), Hampstead, Muswell Hill, Crouch End, Pinner, Northwood, Richmond, Putney, East Sheen, Barnes, Ham, Kingston, Twickenham, Teddington, Blackheath, Beckenham, Bromley Worst: Kentish Town, Hackney, almost all of east and South East London other than the areas I have listed

Wimbledon and Hampstead Heath if you have kids Angel Islington if you are single professional, a couple who are professionals would be fine as well Canary Wharf if you are looking for somewhere more sterile and built-up.

Kensal Green is nice, and not as overpriced as other areas of London. I noticed somebody else said that Brent isn't a nice place to live in. I agree with them. There's some horribly grim places in the borough of Brent. But, not all of it is bad. Just a large majority. Kensal Green is included within Brent, close to the border with Westminister and Kensington & Chelsea, and it is a place far nicer than the rest of the borough. It's also good for commuting into Central London, by both the Bakerloo Line and the various buses which serve the area, and is located close to Portobello Market, Notting Hill and Westfield London.

If you go by what you see, New Cross, Hackney would seem to be pretty bad. But let's not forget that areas like Brixton were deemed really rough years ago and now 'trendy'. Vauxhall another example. No-one can decide for you, you have to go there, spend a day looking around. Only you will know what's right for you - price, amenities, atmosphere, ease of travel to work if you do etc. I know it's a big place to try and get to know. One hour train ride away could be quite a long way out - maybe as far as (say) cambridge, so do you need to move to London, you have the pick of so many places to live if not. The trouble is in London and other cities that one area can look rough but literally half a mile away looks completely the opposite. I'd say start with Twickenham and Kennington, but as like Rugby and cricket I would. See what I mean by personal choice??!! Good luck in your search.

South London is nice and reasonable to live. Places like Tottenham is not a good place. Wimbledon is nice but it may be too expensive so I think somewhere like Balham, or even Croydon. Maybe Wembley is a good place but I don't know if its expensive. Also some places in surrey like Sutton, Kingston, Surbition, New Malden is convenient also Places near Heathrow if you can put up with the noise of the aircraft. I don't know about the north of London but you can find out in other answers or people who know more about the areas there including West & East London etc.
