  • Answer:

I'd go to Chester Zoo, I love it there! Other Places in the UK I like: Lots of national trust ones - Styal Mill, Dunham Massey, Basildon Park, The Vyne Beeston Castle, Blue Planet, Marwell Zoological Park, Talacre Beach in Wales, Snowdon, Candle Factory in Beeston.

Rutland Water. It is the largest landmade lake in the UK and is surrounded by all the villages in Rutland (the smallest county in England). There are some great views and plenty of quaint village pubs around to stop for a bite to eat, or just take a picnic. You can also hire a bike and cycle around or just walk, and there are play areas for the children too.

get a train to Brighton for the day it's great - only about an hour away - get a train from Victoria station

Go to Canterbury. It's near enough not to fall asleep on the train but far enough to have different weather than London. It has the most amazing gothic cathedral where Thomas Beckett was murdered. Streets are narrow and buildings small. It has a lot of good pubs and it's quite cheap.

depends where you live i suppose, no good saying Edinburgh for example if you live in London??? Go on give everyone a clue where you're from. I love Mother Shipton's Cave near Harrogate but that's no good to you as a day trip if you're from Cornwall is it???

If you are staying in London, looking into a day trip from there, there are many places you can visit via BritRail. Hampton Court Palace is stunning Stonehenge, of course--and the nearby town of Salisbury is charming Bath is about as far as I would do for a day trip. If you are a Jane Austin Fan, it is a must. Canterbury is a lovely town with the famous cathedral. Good shopping too. Brighton is down on the sea. The Royal Pavilion is stunning, but the town itself is rather seedy, in my humble opinion. I wouldn't bother with Dover, it is a big bore.
