Which universities in london (or england in general) are good for a communications major?

  Well none of them are any good for a communications major in that we don't major and minor at university in this country! Our system is very different. We don't study a variety of subjects before selecting two to major and minor in. Instead, when we apply to university we do so to study one subject (or in the case of joint honors, two subjects) and when we get there that is all we study. Therefore you would have to study for a specific communications degree. In terms of finding a good university for that course it's probably worth you taking a look at The Times' university rankings for the subject as it's usually a good indicator: http://extras.timesonline.co.uk/tol_gug/gooduniversityguide.php?AC_sub=Communication+and+Media+Studies&sub=17&x=18&y=10 Out of the top 30 Royal Holloway, Queen Mary, Goldsmiths, Kings College, Brunel, Westminster and City are in London with the rest being located around the country.
