What should I pack for a winter vacation?

Any suggestions on what to pack for a trip to London during winter vacation?

  • Answer:

I went to London 2 years in a row at the beginning of October, and lemme tell ya...they have some serious cold weather in Oct! I like cold weather, but I think I had ice chips in my bone marrow! Be sure to dress very warmly. It can also be quite windy, so take into consideration your scalp and ears. Oh, and have plenty of money in the bank or via traveler's cheques since the British pound is nearly double the American dollar. Our electrical appliances don't work over there because their outlet plugs are different than ours. If you need a blow dryer, use their's. Otherwise, have a good trip!

I have to agree with the other posts. London is very expensive. I did not experience cold weather in October, it was pretty warm. We just went back this past December and January and let me tell you it was COLD! I would suggest buying all train and tube tickets before you leave. There are discounts offered for purchase but only if you order them before you depart. Also if you want to visit a lot of the standards a London Pass is handy. It gives you admission to many of the attractions and discounts on food at some places. So...bring twice as much money as you think you will need, an umbrella, layer your clothing and cover your ears and have a great time in a very incredible city.
