Parts of glasgow that are nice to live in and parts to avoid?
-
I am currently looking for work in the glasgow area and would like to move there however im a small town gal and was wondering what parts are nice areas I have a dog so needs to have a nice park, or some nice walk routes needs to have regular easy busy routes to whatever job I may get! the west end has been suggested but its a little out with my price range. as is the city centre. also how far a commute is it from say falkirk to glasgow? could that be done by bus or train at a reasonable daily price, as propertys there are alot cheeper to rent :\ ofc actually being in glasgow would be more convinent

Answer:
parts of glasgow to avoid would be govan, parkhead (you do not want to live near football clubs!!), some parts of pollokshield are awful whereas others are really nice. Cumbernauld is a nice place just outside glasgow (10-15 mins on train) have a look there. West end again a nice area to live, lots of students there but quite expensive. The financial distric is a fairly new complex of nice apartments across the river from city centre and they are quite nice. sighthill is full of asylum seekers so i wouldn't really go there (no offense). The nicest and cheapest areas are on the edge of the city, there aren't many nice places to live near the city centre. Also you may want to live next to a train/subway station as traffic gets really bad at rush hours. The thing you need to know is that in Glasgow you find nice and bad places so as long as you find a place in a nice suburb area within glasgow you'll be fine (no junkies and that). Ehm i wouldn't reccomend Falkirk as it is fairly far away (but not too far). If you are moving for the first time and want to work in glasgow then buy a house near by, there are lots of nice and cheap houses.

What about HAMILTON, to the south? Easy commute, affordable and a decent place.

Milngavie? Near the station. East Dumbartonshire. Falkirk is a dump and houses near Falkirk High Station are quite pricey for what you get. I would recommend the West End. Anywhere nice near Glasgow is comparatively expensive because there is so little really nice. (And everything 'Flying' says)
