Answer:
There are 2 undergound areas in Edinburgh that are open to visitors. Mary King's Close: Beneath the City Chambers on the Royal Mile lies Edinburgh's deepest secret - a warren of hidden streets where real people lived, worked and died between the 17th and the 19th centuries. Now a new attraction allows visitors to step back in time to walk through these underground closes and witness some of the dramatic episodes and extraordinary apparitions from this site's fascinating and historically rich past. http://www.realmarykingsclose.com/ The Edinburgh Vaults: In 1985, these long, lost, forgotten spaces came to public attention after a chance excavation revealed the labyrinthic network of rooms and dwelling spaces contained within. These spaces have lost none of their original atmosphere. They are still dark, occasionally claustrophobic and, when it rains in Edinburgh they can still be very damp. The Vaults today ooze memories of the past, their stones seep water as well as stories, invoking memory and provoking the imagination. http://www.mercattours.com/the-vaults-tour.asp Edinburgh Sightseeing Tour - http://www.edinburghtour.com/ Edinburgh Zoo - http://www.edinburghzoo.org.uk/visiting/getting-here/ Edinburgh Castle - http://www.edinburghcastle.gov.uk/

Mary Kings Close is by far the best of all the tours. Do The Royal Mile/High Street sightseeing before the Mary Kings Close thing, it takes a whole day to really see all there is to see, go to The People's Story it's wonderful AND free. http://www.cac.org.uk/venues/peoples_story Also check out this site http://www.cac.org.uk/pdf/museums_royal_mile for many more things to see on the sightseeing trip. Edinburgh Zoo is a huge and wonderful place. Give it a day also, or at least most of a day. If you are being careful about budget, take lunch with you, there are beautiful gardens with chairs and tables to picnic in comfort. Make certain you take the ride to the top of the zoo, they are very frequent and work your way back down to the end, that's the best way to see it all (I worked there for a summer, I can't recommend it highly enough) If you get the Sightseeing Bus pass, you can do a tour on that, get the one which actually takes you out to the Zoo, then back again, up to the Castle and see the Castle in the late afternoon or evening (not sure of castle times) All the transport information you need can be gotten from http://www.lothianbuses.com/index2.php including the bus tours! They also have the most user friendly maps.

for the undergrfound street, I thinkyou mean this http://www.auldreekietours.com/ the bus tours are centred on Waverley Station, the main rail station, see http://www.stuckonscotland.co.uk/edinburgh/bus-tours.html it's not that far from Waverley to the Royal Mile, which leads to the castle at one end and the royal palace of Holyrood House at the other ... however the zoo is a considerable distance out in the suburbs
