Can I do the duke of Edinburgh?

Can you complete the bronze Duke of Edinburgh award with a friend?

  • Me and my friend both want to do the bronze Duke of Edinburgh award, can we do it in a pair or do you have to do it alone? Also can you give me any other information I need? Thanks in advance.

    Hiya You can do it on your own, with a mate or as a bigger group... When it comes to the expedition section you have to be in a team of minimum 4, maximum seven (for safety reasons). You can join an 'open expedition' run by a DofE Approved Activity Provider' - see www.DofE.org/opportunities for examples, or lists of AAPs are on www.DofE.org/aap - remember you need to have training and practices. It costs £14 per person for a participation place, but obviously you may have to pay for activities you do in each of the four sections. You don't have to do it through school at all! Contact your local council and they will tell you of a local DofE centre they run that you can pop along to - they will probably sort out the expedition and training for you. see www.DofE.org/takepart for your local contact. Hey. I'm 14 and some of my friends are doing D of E at school:) all the information you need will be on the D of E website here. http://www.dofe.org/ also it may help by joining your D of E club at school if you have one. If you don't, don't worry. Of course you can do it with a friend. Apparently you need 6 people or so in a group but it's just a guess so you will have to ask someone else about the numbers. Have fun:) x
