Is Glasgow, Scotland very windy?

Will Edinburgh overtake Glasgow as Scotland's largest city?

  • Edinburgh has a population of 477,000 while Glasgow has a population of 580,000 BUT Edinburgh is growing while Glasgow has been declining since the 1960's when Glasgow once had over 1 Million inhabitants! Will we overtake Glasgow?

  • Answer:

The Glasgow city council area's population has stopped declining at long last. The last few years have seen slight increases in population. The Edinburgh city council area might one day overtake Glasgow because the MSPs only seem to give a damn about Edinburgh nowadays, but the Glasgow connurbation is three or four times the size of Edinburgh's and I don't see that changing. @Guiri: We know Glasgow has problems. The problem with you - you personally - is that you obsessively post vitriolic and frankly very out of date attacks. Continually slagging off the city and its inhabitants and spreading lies does not help the real problems, it just misinforms everyone else and further damages the city's reputation and ability to attract business and tourists. You make many posts of this nature every week. You are not helping.

It is likely unless Glasgow cleans up its crime problem, the schemes, and sectarianism. Also the Glasgow people should accept that they have a problem. Every time anyone suggests that there is a problem on YA, they are subjected to vituperative, personal attacks by short sighted, Glasgow apologists. Glasgow has great schools, universities, East Dunbartonshire is one of the best places to live in the UK, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs are near, great music, (Classical and pop), Great theatre, museums and galleries, shopping etc.. Lots of things to attract inward investment, but pretending all is well is not doing any good. People are voting with their feet as your statistic shows.

In Glasgow's case a lot moved out of the city proper, but still close to Glasgow. Your figures must just relate to people living within the city's boundaries. Look how people now are talking a lot more about what is seen as Greater Glasgow, like Greater Manchester and Greater London , down south? Answer = doubt it in the near future!

probably not, because all of the Edinburgh folk seem to be moving out here to west lothian for our cheap houses and access to the M8 and the rail link. It's got so bad that they were going to build a Sainsbury's in Armadale of all places! lol!

Probably during the Fringe Festival. Mind you, during Fringe, Edinburgh probably overtakes Chennai

Only time will tell.
