Is Weston super mare pier open?

What attractions are there in Weston-Super-Mare that are free?

• Me and some friends are getting the bus to weston next wednesday and none of us have a lot of money, we are already going to the aquarium thingy but we will have alot of time to kill until the bus home arrives. We don't want to go on the weston eye so please don't suggest that. Thanks =]

  Not a lot these days. The open air pool was great in my summer days - you could spend all day there, swimming, playing on the water shutes, sun-bathing; when I went back a couple of years ago it was derelict. The pier was burned down - last year (?) - that used to while away some time. You could go for walks along to the other pier or around the Winter Gardens, visit some seedy shops, buy fish and chips, go to a pub or catch the bus out to Brean Sands. Once August is out, there isn't much left for the day tripper and it can be windy, wet and miserable. Sorry to be such a Jonah, but I had such happy times there (in good weather) when I was a kid and Weston is such a sad place now.
