Is Bristol a safe city?

Which is a better city for students? Bristol or Brighton?

  • Which is a better city for students? Bristol or Brighton? Where would be a good place to live for a student with a middle class background? Obviously wouldn't have much money but do come from a reasonably good background. If anyone can think of another good city that would be helpful. I prefer the southern part of England rather than the north and not London as it is too expensive. This is for a story by the way. Thanks.

  • Answer:

Both cities have a well established university (university of Sussex and university of Bristol) and more recently upgraded polytechnics to university status. However Bristol university gas a very high standard in some fields. Brighton is probably a nicer place to live but Bristol as a major city is going to have more to offer.

i live in Bristol!! There are two "unis" the traditional red brick one and the UWE (the old polytechnic) Bristol Uni is very hard to get in to its up there with Oxford and Cambridge and has a very high standard for admissions.... Living in central Bristol in Clifton or Redcliffe is VERY expensive. But there is a lot going on in Bristol and the student net work etc is very good..... I can't comment on Brighton as i haven't been there! if just conjures up images of "seediness" and tacky Essex wives like Katie Price et al!
