How to travel from London to both Brighton & Margate beach by train? & Which beach is better Brighton/Margate?

  • In the summer me and my friends want to go to the beach after exams and we are not sure which beach to go to so could you please suggest which beach is better for a fun day out. and can someone please tell me which train stations in london will get me to the closest station to the beach in brighton/margate. And also whether i will have have to walk or travel by bus once i am in brighton/margate to actually get to the beach. Thank you (:

    For Margate trains run from London St Pancras every hour taking 1 hour 28 minutes www.southeasternrailway.co.uk For Brighton there are 3 trains per hour from London Victoria Station taking 51 to 60 minutes www.southernrailway.com Both rail companies do a 3 or 4 persons travel for the price of 2 offer (not before 09-30am weekdays) or you can get a 34% discount with railcards www.railcard.co.uk Brighton has a pebble beach but masses to do - shopping, restaurants, culture, nightlife Margate has good sandy beaches and after years of decline is waking up and smartening up as a town. Wouldn't be too much to do on a wet day though. At both places the beach is a few minutes walk from the station

- Margate beaches are narrower than beaches at many other places at the Jersey Shore. There are a few dunes and those that do exist are artificial. They were created to protect beaches from nor'easters and hurricanes. Most beachfront houses are right against the bulkhead with nothing between them and the ocean. - Margate beach is better to Brighton.
