Recommendations for hotels/hostels in London?

Need recommendations for hotels and great food (yeah right) in London...help!?

    I always recommend the Strand Palace in the West End, right by Covent Garden: http://www.strandpalacehotel.co.uk The location is fantastic, literally across the street from the Savoy, easy walking distance to Soho, Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square, Parliament, the Thames, etc. As for food, personally I think the pubs are far better than most people understand. Yes, some of the cheaper restaurants leave a lot to be desired, but the pub fare is well-priced and usually pretty good by US standards.

if budget is no concern then the Soho Hotel in Richmond Mews Soho is cool. As for food, as significant proportion of the world's official top 50 restaurants are in UK (incl no.1) then I dont think you will have much problem there!I love The Square
