How long do you have to work as a nurse in your own country before you can go international?
-
I am currently a RN student in Canada and was wanting to move to Ireland to work as a nurse after I graduate. I was wondering if anyone knew if you had to work in your own country for a certain number of years before being able to work in Ireland as a nurse? Thanks for your help!

Answer:
I can't answer specifically for Ireland, but the U.S. technically doesn't have an experience requirement. Most agencies and hospitals are only willing to offer someone a job with experience of 2-3 years, but that is not a requirement for a visa. I know a coupld of married nurses that are working in the U.S. that never worked in their own country.
