How long does it take to get from dublin airport to heuston or connolly train station?
-
Hi, I want to get to one of these train stations (heuston or connolly) from dublin airport but I have no idea which one is the closer one from the dublin airport. I will arrive at 4.50 pm on sat to the airport and I will have a train at 6.25 pm from heuston train station to waterford. I wonder now if I will take a cab from airport to heuston station will I make it in time? Can you help me with that? thanks for help

Answer:
The bus you want is the 748, not the 747. The 747 only goes to Connolly Station and Busaras (the bus station). You have to go to Heuston Station. The 748 also goes to the city centre, Connolly and the bus station, but it continues out to Heuston. If there is a 747 at the bus stop at the same time, the driver will usually kick everyone off who is not going to Heuston and take a direct route to Heuston instead. If he does this, it will take about 25 mins. Otherwise, it will be about 35-45 mins (Saturday traffic at the time you are travelling shouldn't be too bad. Provided you are on the bus by 5.30pm, you should be grand. A taxi will take 20-30 mins and will cost about 25 euro. If your flight is delayed it's probably worth it - isn't that the last train to Waterford?

The real question is will you land on time and how long before you get you bag and clear arrival. There is the 748 bus stop To the left of the exit from arrivals with a fast service to Heuston . (See link) If pressed for time exit to the Right and the Taxi rank is there he might go faster. Journey time should be less than 45 minutes either way unless very unluck with traffic. IN MY OPINION YOU SHOULD PRE BOOK A TAXI CAB IT TAKES ROUGHLY 45MINS TO EITHER STATION, SATURDAY IS A BUSY DAY AND SOMETIMES YOU COULD BE WAITING FOR A TAXI IN A QUEUE. AVOID THIS AND PRE BOOK THE DRIVER WILL BE WAITING FOR YOU TO ARRIVE GUARANTEEING YOUR TRANSPORT TO THE STATION. RING EXCHECKERS CABS 8343435 AND GIVE THEM YOUR NAME TIME OF ARRIVAL ETC. ENJOY YOURSELF ( X DUBLIN TAXI DRIVER )

You also need to be certain where your train departs from. e.g. trains to Cork only leave from Heuston and trains to Belfast only from Connolly. Checkout http://www.irishrail.ie Also, if the timing of the train is wrong, you should consider a bus - see http://www.buseireann.ie

If you take the 474 bus from outside the Arrivals Terminal it will take you to all of the major stations. The Waterford train goes from Heuston Station and you should get there in about 30 minutes.
