Cost of renting a house and cost of living in Dublin?

  • I am thinking about moving to Dublin... Could you give me information and tips about average cost of renting an apartment (1 or 2 bedrooms), and cost of life in general? (I think that the area that I'm interested in is Dublin 12). Any other information that you can give is welcome (eg transportation, nightlife, entertainment...)

    Ireland's banking and housing sectors have both crashed. So rent may be a little cheaper but the cost of living is high and can be up 35% higher living in Dublin rather than on the outskirts. Also unemployment is pretty high. I would advise against a move to Dublin until the unemployment rate drops and the economy gets back on it's feet.

www.daft.ie should be useful for you regarding housing. But otherwise I think Dublin is the most expensive city in Ireland to live in, and personally would choose any of the other cities.
