I am a international student(study visa) in Dublin. Could I get a pps No?

I am a international student(study visa) in Dublin. Could I get a pps No? My landlord asked for my pps No today. He said the only thing needed to apply a pps No is the passport. But I am not quite sure.

Yes, you need a PPS number to register with a doctor, to open a bank account and pretty much everything else. You need your current passport or national identity card, a letter from your college/university showing that you are registered for a course and evidence of your address in Ireland (a bill or rental agreement is usually enough).
