Howya Dublin! I'm looking for ideas for a summer job for my son.?

He's doing the Junior Cert at the moment. Any ideas at all about how he can get something for the summer. Also, next year he will be in transition year and needs something for work experience. I would be really grateful for any good ideas. Ta.

Answer:
For a summer job i could give him one. All he needs to do is be able to walk. It's not the best job in the world and it can be hard work, i have a leaflet distribution company so basically all he has to do is put leaflets into letter boxes. In the summer time we often have a few lads just finishing there junior cert that work for us. I wouldn't advise he does it for his work experience though lol. He can work as much or a little as he wants. If he just wants to work 3 days a week then that's fine, but he must be able to work the full day as we often travel to areas that can be some distance away. He wouldn't be going out on his own he'd be with a team of people and a supervisor. He would get paid the same rate as what everyone else does. the faster he works the more he earns. On average the lads that have previously worked for me his age got anywhere between €60-€80 a day. If it's something that he thinks he would be able for then you can email me.

Well I'm sorta like him, I'm doing my junior cert now, and I was looking for a job in Dublin. I really like art, so I went into this art gallery that I knew of and I asked the manager for a job, and I got one!I'll be working there the day after my last exam on Monday! Suggestions for him would be like a cashier in a small shop, job in a supermarket, job in a restaurant, he will probably need a CV, he could just go into the shop and ask the manager for one, that is all I did. Good luck

Jaysus, you can tell your a dub. Ha. Well, he has to be 16 to be working, if younger we will get shite pay (5.81 an hour) ... no point working for that money. Tesco are great for hiring younsters still in school. Try Dundrum Shopping Centre, loadsa jobs going. Thorntons ice-cream parlour are looking for people aswell. Next year, I worked in my school an oxfam for work exp. Oxfam is great cause they're real friendly and you chose your own hours, plus you dont have to work alot which is good cause its only a bit of fun really. Good luck on the Junior...
