You don't need to have a passport for travel between Ireland and the UK if you travel by ferry. You probably need one if you fly, though this is a requirement by the airlines and not the governments. Preferably you should have some sort of official photo ID but if not then just go anyway, you should be fine. Some other poster mentioned the Schengen Agreement, don't mention this to them as Ireland and the UK aren't in Schengen.

A CURRENT DRIVING LICENCE WITH PHOTO also it may be wise to carry a couple of utillity bills i.e gas or electric to confirm uk address. Enjoy your stay in Dublin, suggest when you arrive to take a city open-top bus tour , it takes about an hour and a half , but you can jump on and off if you find points of paticular interest, and get on the next bus thjat comes along after your visit to what or where-ever. if your there for a week-end take a trip to JOHNNY FOX'S pub on fri or sat night, you'll enjoy a good meal , good caberet, good pint of Guinness, in a 17th century tavern that has a great deal of character and characters. Good-Luck

You only need photo id to travel on the ferry to ireland

I'm from Holyhead and now live in Dublin, so I travel over a lot. No I.D. is required under the independence agreement. You'll only get asked on the return leg by either special branch, immigation or customs. Just say like I do, "I've no passport, I don't drive so I've no licence and I'm off the electoral register as I no longer live here. Besides under the EU Shengen agreement and the independence agreement I don't need any" (I get waved through).

No passport required between UK and Ireland. One of the ferry companies looks for photo ID for security, so I'd check with yours just in case. By the way Suzie s, Ireland is a separate country since 1922, but there is a free travel area between them.

Any goverment certified photo id, driving license, citizen card, ID card they may accept a student card. The airline will specify the exacts on their website but they are the main few.

The port might not even ask for any id , but your ticket and some form of photo id would be helpful if stopped

A drivers licence would be fine - if not whatever Id you have. they might except a Nus card if you have one. the most offical thing you have anyway bring

If you are British, you don't need a passport to travel about the uk.
