Why do people kiss the Blarney Stone in Ireland?

Can you get any deseases from kissing the blarney stone?

Oh no she doesn't. I went to Ireland many years ago and I found out what the locals like to do for fun and frivolity. The local pub goers love to get roaring drunk and then go and urinate on the stone knowing that some poor tourist is going to lock lips with it. Frankly I wouldn't touch the thing without dousing it liberally with bleach and giving it a good scrubbing first...and even then I wouldn't kiss it.

it is a rock so if somebody with a illness slobbered all over it before you there is a good chance bring a wet-wipe with you & wipe it first

hmmm not sure, but I would advice to make sure you empty your pockets of all change before you do kiss it! (Brush money....)

i always saud it must be dirty from all the people kissing it especially al the tourists, therust have been millions have kissed! I live a few miles from it and never went to it!! But I don't think you'll get sick from it, just don't be giving it a big huge kiss
