Should I study abroad?

Should I study abroad in Turkey or Spain?

  • So, I know during college I want to study abroad FOR SURE.. But I have sort of a dilemma... I really want to go to Turkey for that study abroad year.. but some of the colleges I'm applying to don't have study abroad programs to Turkey.. should that affect my decision to attend there?? cause i know i really wnat to study abroad in turkey.. and the "non affiliated" programs they have don't transfer grades so i wouldn't be able to do that...what should i do???? I also wnat to really improve my spanish language, so I'm thinking, should I study abroad in Spain instead (since a Turkey program doesn't exist).. So I guess I'm asking if I should study abroad in Turkey or Spain??

  • Answer:

Well if you cannot find ur program in turkey, then you should go to spain. your education comes first than the places so you wanna choose a place that makes sense. if you really want to see turkey, then you should take a vacation and go there. that would work better for you.

Although I love Turkey in your case I really think you should study in Spain because Spanish is the second most common language in the world after English so studying in Spain in the long run will be more useful to you than Studying in Turkey.

The purest Castillian Spanish is said to be spoken in Castilla y león autonomous region and Segovia is in the heart of it. Segovia is quite small (I was born there and It is BEAUTIFUL). The council and the Universities and Schools have prepared Spanish courses with leisures activities and accommodation (full boarding) included in the price, from 650 for one week!!!! The problem is that almost nobody speak English and It is difficult for English people to find there courses when looking for it ( I tried it but no results) BUT I´ve found a PDF courses 2009 and 2010, I can send you the pdf and promote MY CITY my email... i guess it is for one year. is it? like eramus student exchange program.. if you achieve to come to METU or Bogazici .. come to Turkey even on foot. those universities are very good and campus life is just perfect and better than most of universities in Europe. especially life in METU is perfect but Bogazici is in Istanbul so Bogazici has that Istanbul advantage. other universities arent that good. except for Bilkent or Koc or Sabancı or ITU but you cant find that good campus life in those universities. any other university must be out of decision. i think METU is by far the best university in Turkey. you can improve your Spanish anywhere anytime later. hmm another solution; come to Turkey and find a Spanish room mate in Turkey. write this wish in your mail to Erasmus office in METU, see if they can manage it.

Are you American? Because if you are British, there is a course at Manchester University which is great- Modern Foreign Language with Middle Eastern Studies. You can pick a mfl which you have done at A-Level. German, spanish, russian, italian, french etc etc with a middle eastern language: you can choose from Turkish, Arabic, Persian and Hebrew. In your case, you could do Spanish and Turkish. The third year, you spend 6 months in Spain and 6 months in Turkey. Of course, this only applies if you are British or would come to university in Britain.
