Turkish translation help, please?

  • I am learning Turkish to prepare for my meeting next summer with my daughter, born in Istanbul to a Turkish woman with whom I attended college in San Francisco, in 1982, before we graduated and she returned to Turkey without telling me that she was pregnant. I only discovered the girl's existence two years ago. I want to tell a Turkish friend here in Los Angeles: "My daughter Sevgi lives in Istanbul, and I am learning Turkish so that I can talk to her." How do I say that? Please, write it using the Turkish letters with the little 'wings,' if your keyboard allows it. Can you suggest a website with audio lessons so that I can hear the correct pronunciation? Tesekkurler ederim!

  • Answer:

Kızım Sevgi İstanbul'da yaşıyor, ben de onunla konuşabilmek için Türkçe öğreniyorum. http://www.learningpracticalturkish.com/sounds-of-turkish--alphabet.html

http://www.turkcekarakter.com/ ( The above site corrects Turkish characters ) ======================== ( English characters only) Kizim Sevgi Istanbul'da yasiyor, onunla konusabilmek icin Turkce ogreniyorum. ============================== ( Including Turkish characters ) Kızım Sevgi İstanbul'da yaşıyor, onunla konuşabilmek için Türkçe öğreniyorum. =============================== This is supposed to be an audio dictionary. http://www.tdkterim.gov.tr/seslisozluk/ I couldn't try it, because I don't have the necessary technology. Good luck with your daughter. ========================== EDIT ========================== http://www.ingilizcebul.com/telaffuz.php I tried this one, it works. There are 15 languages. Choose Turkish. Write the word. Let the character pronunciate it for you.
