What's the difference between a province and a district?

Whats the heat and temperature (in degrees if possible) like in Side, Turkey late June early July?

  • For reference, Side is in the region of Pamphylia, in what is now Antalya province, on the southern Mediterranean coast of Turkey. I was just wondering if anyone had visited Side, Turkey before in June/July time, and how hot it was when you went, as I LOVE hot weather. As stated, I'm going at the end of June 2010, through to the start of July 2010! Also whether the humidity makes a difference, as I know 30 degrees in the UK is hot, but will 30 degrees in Turkey feel hotter as its a different kind of heat- due to the humidity?! Also what sort of clothing would be best to take, as we've only holiday-ed abroad once to Rhodes two years back, but they were in a heatwave so we weren't really that prepared! When we were in Rhodes it was averaging 37 degrees, so I know it will be cooler than that! Would love some feedback :) Thanks!

  • Answer:

Cooler than 37C - I actually doubt it!! I've been 3 times, once in Aug/Sept, once in Oct/Nov and in July. Ok it was late July, but it got up to 55C in the sun (that was the temperature on the thermometer). Trust me, it was hot, very hot. The time in August was more humid, which didn't make it feel hotter, but very sticky. October was a lot cooler, although still in the low-30Cs during the day, so not exactly cold. Take shorts, skirts (thin floaty ones, a bit like ones you put over swimwear). Obviously take swimwear. For evenings, depends which hotel. Some don't allow men to wear shorts. But don't get too dress up - I wore a light floaty dress most nights. You won't need a cardigan or light jacket - but take one as it will feel extremly cold when you get back (espiecally if you come back in the middle of the night - flights from antalya usually are awful). Its also very sunny, so does feel hotter. The dry sand is unbearable, and you cannot walk on it, so you must bring flip flops. The same for dry paths/surfaces around the pool. The sun even heats the pools so much they are like a hot bath by around 2/3pm. They are quite cool until around 10am though - but not cold. The sea is really really warm. The sunbeds and inflatables also get really hot - we cover the inflatables with a damp towel to keep them coolish. So I would say the temperature would be high30C-low40C. Maybe higher towards the end of your holiday. Which hotel are you going to? I will be in Side on the 8th of July for 2 weeks :D

Side is beautiful. Check Alanya for temperature from this website http://www.meteor.gov.tr/en-US/forecast-cities.aspx?m=ALANYA side is very close to alanya the values are almost the same. right humidity makes it even hotter, and the humidity in south is high everytime, but esp in summer!! it's even hard to breathe sometimes in the city centers. hmm average 37 is too hot lol but side is still hot. just take few clothes for the chilly nights. it is windy sometimes.
