Which area to stay in Turkey?? And which hotel/hostel is cheapest?
-
We are going to Turkey in a week for the first time. I've heard that Taksim area is best to stay in but I've been looking online for hotels and everything is like 90 dollars plus to stay at..is there any hotel names or nice hostel/guest houses to stay in that are cheaper but clean and safe. Hopefully in Taksim area. Also I did find some in Sultanahmet area....evenb though I heard its boring here at night...are taxis around lots to drive us back and forth??? Please how do I find cheap places to stay??

Answer:
If you are looking for a beach holiday, I'd recommend Olu Deniz. Yes it is a bit touristy, but the beach is beautiful, plenty bars/restaurants and lots of watersports and activities available in the day if you are feeling energetic!

you've heard right, the best district to stay is taksim.many tourists stay in sultanahmet area, considering that it is close to museums, mosques but i dont suggest sultanahmet, its very crowded, dirty, has heavy traffic, is an immigrant area therefore may not be safe etc... taksim has the perfect location, crowded but since it's lively at all hours of the day, you wont have any safety problems if you watch out your purse.plus the nightlife is there. there is the list of hotels in taksim, you should search for a good price btw http://www.turkiyeotellerirehberi.com/taksim_otelleri.htm i chose an hotel which seems nice, dora hotel, it is around 90-100 dollars for a twin room. plus the location is good. http://www.doraotel.com i've been to taxim hill hotel and i suggest because it's 4 star and has a perfect location, but it starts with 130 dollars so stay in taksim, you'll easily reach sultanahmet by tram and metro no need to use taxis or buses. you can go anywhere from taksim.
