Where to go in cyprus?

Where should I go on holiday, Turkey, Cyprus or Crete?

  • I want to go on holiday with my partner but we haven't decided where to go yet. I am 34 and she is 28. We are interested in lounging by the pool, or going to a waterpark, going out for food, and going on excursions to interesting places. We don't want to stay in a resort which is too lively. I have been to Turkey before and really enjoyed it and wonder whether we should go there - stay in Kusadasi or Side, i would like to go to Pamukkale and maybe Ephesus. The other places we have in mind are Crete or Cyprus, but I have never been to either. Which of the 3 places would you recommend to go and why? What attractions are there to see/do? What area would you recommend to stay in? Thanks

    Come to Protaras in Cyprus! Plenty of good hotels, mainly situated along the shoreline of some great beaches, and all within easy walking distance of a good range of shops,bars, and restaurants....and from here, you're just a short drive / taxi ride / bus trip from the livlier resort of Agia Napa....and no, please son't be put off....its not all lager louts and booze cruises! there are a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants, aside from the clubs which are all mainly situated in the Square at the top part of Napa. Take a relaxing boat trip from the harbour along the coast, passing the sea caves, Cavo Greko, Konnos Bay, Flamingo Bay, Fig Tree Bay, and on to the Buffer Zone near to the Ghost town of Famagusta, where the boat turns around for the trip back home. the boat usually stops a couple of times along the way for those who want to swim or snorkel in some of the beautiful coves. Agia Napa also has a large waterpark which is worth a visit. Pick up one of the local newspapers ( Cyprus Mail) where you often find money-off vouchers. If you hire a car, then do take the chance to get out and about, visit the old town of nicosia, and if you remember to take your passport, then you can walk through the Buffer Zone at the checkpoint in Ledras Street, and cross over to the Turkish occupied part of the city. Visit The Troodos Mountains........a nice cool break when its too hot down by the coast! Drive across to the Western part of the island, and visit Kolossi Castle, or, not too far away, the Amphitheatre at Kourion, and from here, its only a short drive into Paphos where you can vsist the old fort in the harbour....and maybe have a dreink and a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants that sit around the harbour. Also in Paphos are the House of Dionysoss mosaic,close to the harbour, and just a short drive away; the Tombs of The Kings. If you do decide to come to Cyprus, just brink a smal amount of Euros out with you, and change the rest of the money when you get here.....you will get a better rate of exchange here than in the U.K. You don't say when you intend to come, but I would suggest you avoid August; not only is it very hot, August is the time most Cypriots take their holidays.....and it is really very busy in the resorts.

Ive been many times to the northern part of Cyprus. The advantage of Cyprus is, almost everyone in the island speaks English. If u go the Greek part of Cyprus, as far as i know, u can cross to the Turkish side (that is northern). Someone correct me if i'm wrong. Tho if u go to north directly by a connecting flight from istanbul, they wont let u in to the southern side. The only adventage of the north is, they have a lot of casinos in Kyrenia and Nicosia. Apart from that, thx to having no unjust embargoes, south is by far a better place per tourist needs. Pamukkale is a unique landmark to see. So if u want something different go there. If u are into night life, I'd say go to Bodrum in Turkey or Mykonos in Greece.

i dont think cyprus has anything special in both sides. you find the sea and the beaches in turkey and crete. going to ephesus and pamukkale in aegean region of turkey is a good idea. i recommend fethiye-ölüdeniz. it's wonderful and has beautiful nature but it's not crowded at all. kuşadası and side are both nice places.side is both calm and lively. also has night clubs and bars. i have no idea about crete, it's a greek island. i havent been there. but i'd go to crete instead of cyprus, for sure. you can ask about crete in greek section maybe? ahha sorry but the wealthiest means anything? bodrum is too expensive and highly developed haha if it has anything to do with the holiday. no offense, i dont think there's anything special in the island middle of the mediterranean when compared to aegean costs.. so i still recommend bodrum, kuşadası, side, ölüdeniz, crete or mykonos.. i almost forgot, i recommend Qatar which has the highest GDP per capita according to IMF. Brunei is on the top of the list also. consider them @sese, adana is a nice city but it's definitely not like kuşadası or side, not by the sea at all... and it's extremely hot in summer since it has a southeastern climate, and there's no sea. i avoid adana in summer. it would be sightseeing in a city, rather than a holiday by the sea. i agree it has lots of things to see and esp to eat :))

I would suggest Cyprus, for the following reasons: 1. It has all you seem to enjoy (from your entry: great food, waterparks, excursions and pools galore). 2. English is spoken fluently by pretty much everyone on the island 3. You'll drive on the same side of the road as the UK if you decide to rent a car and explore further on your own 4. It is the 'wealthiest' of the three destinations and the most developed 5. The weather is pretty much the same in all 3 destinations, so you will not be losing out there. I would recommend Protaras/Ayia Napa, Limassol or if you prefer a quieter environment Paphos.

All are great choices in Cyprus there are casinos and hotels LOTS but if you want to go somewhere different i would go to Turkey Adana or Istanbul Adana is more of a village place and Istanbul is more of a city place in Adana there is a place called Mavi su Aqua Land Its close to this huge park all you pay is $7 to get in its just like wild rivers Adana is also famous for Adana kebab It is sooo good i love it and Adana is cheap if you want you can go to Adana which is 30 min flight to Cyprus and tickets are A$35.
