What is the medium of instruction in German and Austrian universities?

Turkish universities with the language of instruction in English?

  • So for my last question I asked about my chances of getting into Boğaziçi University. The main reason I wanted to apply there was because the language of instruction is in English.Of course I will study the language while I am there, as I have been studying it here for the past 8 months. However, my language skills will never be good enough to enter a university with the language of instruction in Turkish. This would be difficult to find by searching wikipedia for all uni's in Turkey, so I just wanted to ask you guys if t you knew any such uni's off the top of your head. Also. I would be going for a master's degree/graduate program, so only the university's graduate studies have to be in English to fit my selection criteria. Teşekkürler!

First, did you check additional criteria for foreign students? As far as I know, there is at least one exam you will need to take as a foreign applicant, called YOS, and apparently this year it was in April (the applications were due in February). Please check this page and read the guide and others: http://osym.gov.tr/BelgeGoster.aspx?F6E10F8892433CFFD4AF1EF75F7A7968A83883643726FA6B Here is the 2009 exam calendar (lists all exams by OSYM, so pretty much all nationwide exams in Turkey, 2010 dates should be similar) http://osym.gov.tr/BelgeGoster.aspx?F6E10F8892433CFFF88F742D0D711251D85653DB9EC146B4 Look for "Yabancı Uyruklu Öğrenci Sınavı" (fifth one on 2009 calendar) Now about the universities. You did not indicate your branch. If it is MBA, you will have a lot of alternatives. Boğaziçi University, Bilkent Uni, ODTÜ, Koç Uni, Sabancı Uni, İTÜ are hard to get into (ITU was 30% English) at least for Turks, most likely for foreigners, as well. There might be huge competition in your branch. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't apply. Apply everywhere. Note that you will be classified differently, and there are slots open for foreigners only in some universities. Also you may need to apply to the university in person. Some other universities are: Özyeğin Uni, Okan Uni, Yeditepe Uni, Başkent Uni, Kültür Uni, Fatih Uni, ... These last ones are all foundation universites, I believe some state universities like Karadeniz Teknik University and İzmir YTE have some grad level branches with English as language of instruction, as well, and they are not as hard to enter as Bogazici, ODTU, and ITU. As you might guess, foundation universities are expensive. We don't have private universities, but even Turkish public does not know it :) They are all 'foundation universities'. You are welcome
