Warm Vacation Packing Tips?

Antalya, Turkey vacation & packing tips?

  • I'm a Californian/US Citizen traveling to Turkey for the first time. Can you give me any tips as to what to pack for early November? We're going to Antalya, Turkey. I speak only English and a little bit of German; I did get some language CDs to try and learn a little before I go. Any tips as to what to expect, how to dress (I'm a woman), or what activities to do are welcome. TIA!

Macbeth gave you very good info. I would suggest you some of the activities, - Take a city sightseeing tour. That is the perfect introduction to Antalya on the Mediterranean Sea, an area known as the Turquoise Coast. - Visit Aspendos, which bears one of the best preserved Roman theaters in Anatolia. - Perge, the place where most of the statues that are on display in Antalya Museum were unearthed. - Visit Manavgat and Kursunlu Waterfalls. Enjoy your stay in Antalya:)

Hello! I am a Turkish girl who lives in California :) For early November, Antalya is not that cold. You still need to get some hoodies to wear with t-shirts. Also you should get warm jackets because it might rain (umbrella too) Antalya is very welcome to have tourists, you can speak in english with people. It won't be a problem. You can wear whatever you want nobody's gonna care about that. Enjoy your trip :)

Have a nice time in Antalya

I got back from the Antalya region on monday. The days were very warm - high 30s to low 30s, sunny etc. Pools very cold, sea still cool but able to swim in it. The day temperatures were actually very nice. In July it reached over 55C, which is ridiculously hot. It was hilarious sitting on the beach in swimwear talking to locals in jackets. Starts to get cloudy about 3. We had storms most nights. Some were mild, just rain (quite heavy - much heavier than usual english rain) with distant thunder. Some were awful - we saw 3 storms collide in the bay. The lightening was stunning - best/worst we've ever seen. The thunder was so loud the hotel shook. We had a power cut for 4 hours on friday night (including street and traffic lights). It is also quite cold in the evenings - we definitely wished we had taken more than a light jacket. We ended up wearing jeans and about three cardigans trying to keep warm. So the weather is good in the day, not so good at night. But the storms are great to watch. Have a good time.
