How do you go about hiking Mt. Rainier?

Can I hike up Mt. Nemrut?

  • I'm going to Turkey in May next year. One of the things that I'd like to do is hike up Mount Nemrut, with the ancient statues. I've had a little look into it, and I know I have to somehow get to a town called Kahta. I will be in Göreme, in Cappadocia so I hope I can get a bus or something from there (if anyone could give an idea of how I would go about it, how long it would take, I would be very grateful). But then when I get to Kahta, I want to go up Mt. Nemrut. However, I don't want to take a guided tour. I am very happy to have a good days hiking up and down if thats what it takes, I'm healthy and have done a bit of hiking before. Are there buses from Kahta to the bottom of the mountain/start of the trail if there is one? I know that if I dont think about this kind of thing till I get there, I'll end up getting ripped off and having to go with a big group, I am a dumb tourist after all. Thanks very much.

you can get a bus there from goreme u will need to get 2 buses also u can go to one of the tour companies in goreme and get advice they are really not that expensive and they are very experienced it is normally quite hot here then..when you are there make sure u visit goreme open air museum also if you like walking you can visit zelve,pasabaj,cavusin,rose valley,love valley,dervent valley and the underground cities.if u like walking the valleys are lovely and if you walk through rosae valley in the evening as the sun is setting its amazing scenery also take a baloon ride over cappadocia its well worth it..enjoy

The distance between Goreme and Nemrut is quite a lot actually. By bus it may take 12 hours maybe. And the place where mt nemrut is subject to terrorist attacks of Kurdish PKK at times. I wouldn't hike there.
