Do they serve kebabs at Turkish restaurant Tuscany/Mediterranee Irvine,CA?

What do I name my Turkish/Mediterranean/Middle Eastern Restaurant?

  • I will give you some info about the restaurant. I hope it will make it easier for you. The location will be in California. Not giving the city name on purpose. The name will be pronounced by Americans. (I had a guy told me to name it Kebab 49 which is ok in Turkey but won't make sense in the U.S.) It will be a counter service fast food restaurant. I have full liquor license but not sure if I will serve full liquor. Maybe just beer and wine. No waiters, no table service... The menu will include beef/lamb/chicken kebabs, lamb-beef and chichken shawerma/gyro/doner kebab, adana kebab, falafel, kofte... and some other sides and meze platters. I ll be serving wrap versions of these kebabs also. There will be soup, salad and baklava of course. I have some names below... You can vote for those and/or tell me your own idea. • Answer:

I like "Shish." Short, but sweet. Or maybe, "Sultan's Delight" I wouldn't do things like "Doner" or "Kofte" or even the "Bosphorus" because it may be difficult for people to spell if they're trying to look it up online (for instance, I think most Arab places say "Shwarma" and not "Shawarma"...though I could be wrong, I'd still miss your restaurant in an online search!). Same goes for "kebab." I've seen Middle Eastern restaurants in the US and Europe say "kebap" "kabob," etc. (Edit...) Good luck with your restaurant! And try, if you can, to make the food as authentic as possible. The food I ate while in Turkey was amazing and it's hard to find that replicated overseas!
