As this question is posted in the Turkey subsection of Travel section, I assume and therefore base my answer for rentals in Turkey. Having worked in a top management level of two different international rent a car companies in Turkey, I can safely recommend that you do not go through a central reservation system if you want a cheap deal. Instead do your rental by visiting local rent a car offices and obtain several quotations before deciding. It does not hurt to tell each of the rental offices that the previous offer was "a little lower" than what they just quoted you ... power of bargaining always pays off ! Good luck

steal it...urrr...i mean "borrow" it a while, then ditch it in the woods :)) .....or the classic way, go to car rental depo and get a japanese car that isn't gas thirsty, that way at least you won't have to spend too much on gas and can keep the car for an extra day, for example....hope that helps
