Has anyone ever been to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada?
-
I am going there next Summer and I want to know what it is like.
-
Answer:
I have been there several times. Always had a great time. Have an ice cream at Cows... Have a chicken burger at the Chicken Burger in Bedford... Take a harbour cruise... Go to the Halifax Citadel... Take a drive along the coast... See Peggy's Cove... See Mahone Bay... Go watch the tides on the Bay of Fundy at Cape Split... If you have time, drive around Cape Breton (counterclockwise for the best views)... Check out the Titanic Memorial... Check out the Historic Properties ( waterfront)...

Yes, I used to live there. The people a very friendly and laid back. Drivers are very considerate. You have to go to the Halifax Waterfront and get icecream at Cows. You can go on a harbour cruise and there's lots of great restaurants(Il Mercato and the Pressgang) and bars. I can be a little chilly though, so make sure you take a sweater and a jacket. Have a great trip!

Halifax has seven universities. So, that's about 30,000 students out of a population of 360,000. It also has the largest Buddhist community in North America. It has a lively nightlife. There are a lot of bars and clubs on Argyle Street, another cluster in Historic Properties and a few in the Brewery Market. All of these places are a short walk from each other. Lots of cool restaurants, and neat cruising options: take the ferry to Dartmouth for $3.50 return, or go for a harbour cruise on a tall ship. The Silva. If you loved Titanic, go to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. The film's director sent his set decorators here. They have the largest Titanic collection in the world. And you can even do a Titanic tour of the city and see where J Dawson is buried (Leo's namesake in the film). And depending when you go there are lots of cool festivals that take place. Check out events on novascotia.com For shopping - Spring Garden Road and a few of the streets off it. The bigger malls at the Halifax Shopping Centre and MicMac Mall (in Dartmouth, across the harbour, without a car it might be a hassle to get here, so stay on the Halifax side).
