What are some things I must see in Philly?

What must-see/must-do things are there in Edmonton?

  • I'm going to be in Edmonton for about 4 days (Thursday thru Sunday) and want to know what things I absolutely have to do/see/hear/eat. What restaurants are best, what pubs are great, what sights should I see, etc? I have access to a car, so stuff you have to drive to is also cool. (PS I already know all about West Edmonton Mall.)

The first 2 people to respond has covered pretty much everything going here for this time of season. July is the hot month for activities. Restaurants. Gino's Italian food Grandma cooks from scratch… is a small place so you may have to make reservations. This place is also about 3 blocks from Whyte Ave so great to dine there before heading to the pubs. Address is 7618-104 Street Phone # (780) 433-6202 Another place on Whyte Ave but its at the other End. Chinese. Red Diamond House Restaurant (780) 465-0755 Address 7500-82 Avenue Moose Factory and Sawmill theses two owned by same person and Have fantastic nightly specials during the week... The Moose Factory 1-800-465-7378 or (780) 437-5616 Address 4810 Calgary Trail NW. Sawmill (780) 436-1950 is a free call too 4745 Gateway Boulevard.. Yes both are right by each another one is heading south the other going north... As for the rest of the restaurants have the usual hot spot names like every other city…. Places to see.. Space Science centre always has something spacey going on there..lol Whyte ave is a hot spot for fantastic and unique shopping stores…during the day and also famous for the night life with many, many pubs, it truly caters to every type of music… For shopping you need to walk the entire strip because there are 2 great places hidden at the end. Fort Edmonton Park- is the largest in North America of its kind it covers from the fur trading 1800’s to the 1920’s, It is worth checking out Actors that fill the time period and they stick to their dialog. It is only open on Saturdays you need to go early cause it gets supper busy. This is truly one of the best to … there is also a little train ride that takes you over the High Level Bridge costs 10’s . .. its is left of the flea market (behind it almost) its worth the ride the conductors are people who actually have used this old little train. I hope this helps you out. I have also answered a couple of other ones .. for people looking for stuff to do in this city… under the Discover part of this section.

It really depends on what you're into. For attractions... if you're a science type person the Telus World of Science is pretty neat. if you're into horticulture the Muttart Conservatory is usually nice to see. if you like museums the Royal Alberta Museum is a good one, it usually has some really interesting displays. For the nightlife scene, if you're into country The Ranch and Cowboys Dance Hall are fun places to go. Cowboys plays other types of music too so you'd enjoy it even if you don't like country. Fever is a great club to go to if you want to dance lots. It definitley feels like a club. It's really intense. If you like Italian food, the Il Portico Restaurant is really good. Mikado is a really amazing place to go for Japanese food. Great atmosphere and service, and awesome food. I've only been to the one in South Edmonton Common, but I'm sure they're all like that. Whyte Ave is a great place to check out. It has some really great shopping spots, restaurants, and bars. If you're looking for some fun nightlife, Whyte Ave is definitely the place to go. Hope I helped =) Have fun in Edmonton.

Welcome in advance to Edmonton! The previous poster had some good suggestions...Muttart is definitely a beautiful place. You already know about the Mall. Valley Zoo is fun to see (not as good as Calgary Zoo but I'll deny I said that ;P ). If you're a golfer, consider Victoria Golf course in the river valley...it's just beautiful there. If you like shopping, hit Whyte Ave (82 Ave) for sure. Tons of unique, one-off store instead of the usual chain stores, and endless bars & clubs. Downtown's pretty good too, though not as unique it has some great restaurants. Also has the Baccarat Casino if you like to gamble. One of my fave restaurants is Cafe Select - a little upmarket, but sensational mussels! Having said all that, spend at least a full day at the Mall, it really does have the most to see & do. The waterpark is great so bring a swimsuit. There's even bungee jumping. Most of all, if you have some down time, take a walk through the valley. That's my favourite part of the city. I hope you enjoy your time here!

Well, you absolutely have to visit the Edmonton Mall. It's like Disneyland, indoors, with stores. There's a swimming pool, a skating rink -- tons of stuff. Just google up Edmonton Mall and you'll see. Elsewhere? It's great country for walking or hiking, or biking. Enjoy!

Forget the Mall. Almost everybody comes back disappointed from their first visit. Depends when you're coming. Edmonton has a lot of cool festivals during the summer months. The best ones (as in, better than similar festivals you might go to elsewhere) are the Fringe Theatre Festival (biggest in North America)August) and the Street Performers Festival (the best street performers in the world gather there). Super vibrant theater scene in Edmonton. Don't miss River Vally Parks, a huge, huge, huge networks of foot and bike trails in the woods, right in the city. Rent a bike to see more of it in a day. For food, if you're adventurous, go to Chinatown. Be brave, enter in one of those places with huge menus written mostly in Chinese, & experiment! Later in summer, drive out about 45 minutes to one of the area's many corn-field mazes. In Innisfail (about 90 minutes by car), training facility for RCMP canine units (demos weekly), Wildlife Park with real live movie-star bears (yes, you read that right. If you've ever seen a bear on TV or at the movies, chances are it was one of those--you can get your picture taken with one & they even "pose" for you).
